Assisted Workspace for Simple Data Point Extraction

Introduction

Assisted workspaces are an ideal starting point for anyone looking to automate simple data point extractions. An easy-to-use wizard guides you step-by-step to a productive data point extraction workflow. This is especially well-suited if you are looking into extracting textual or numeric data points from a set of documents that

  • can be clearly separated into categories

  • the data points to be extracted for each of the categories are well defined

  • the layouts in each category are relatively homogeneous

Define Data Points and Annotate

Define what data points you are interested in for each category. Annotate directly in the example documents where these data points can be found. After a few documents, the system will already suggest the appropriate document elements for your data points based on the annotations you made so far.

Moreover, during this step, you can define the specific

  • data type

  • validation rules

  • transformations

  • export behavior

for each of your data points.

Data Point Annotation

Publish your Workflow

Once all uploaded example documents in their categories are completely annotated, your workflow can be published. In the last step define

  • Who can work with your workflow

  • How documents get in and out of your workflow

  • If you want to automate the extraction without review above a certain machine confidence

Once you click Finish, an AI model will be trained to categorize your documents and detect the defined data points.

You’re ready to go!

(Optional) Getting this Integrated

To integrate your newly created workflow into existing document processing processes, you can simply define your import- and export-channels, such as API, Email or FTP.

You can get to these options via the workflow’s configuration menu on the top right.

Workflow in Production

Now you are ready to submit documents to your workflow using any of the specified import channels or directly uploading manually using the Import button on the top right.

Documents will get categorized and data points detected. You can manage your documents being processed by your workflow in the transaction list shown below.
